Today (November 17), world oil prices increased sharply in the first session of the week, when the market assessed supply risks and expectations of US economic recovery after the reopening signal. Specifically, Brent oil price was at 64.39 USD/barrel, up 2.19% (equivalent to an increase of 1.38 USD/barrel). WTI oil price was at 60.09 USD/barrel, up 2.39% (equivalent to an increase of 1.40 USD/barrel).
Oil prices rose sharply in the first trading session of the week, as investors focused on the risk of fuel supply disruptions due to new US sanctions and drone attacks on oil refineries in Russia. Market sentiment was also reinforced by expectations that the US government will soon end the shutdown.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) has just released its annual World Energy Outlook report, forecasting that oil demand could continue to increase until 2050. This is a significant adjustment from the previous view that global oil demand would peak this decade. The IEA said the new forecast is based on only taking into account regulations already in place, rather than including climate targets as before.
Oil prices are currently affected by many factors: OPEC+ slightly increased production in December 2025 but paused further increase in the first quarter of 2026; US sanctions on Russian oil; along with the Russia-Ukraine conflict that has not shown signs of cooling down…
Domestic gasoline prices on November 17 remained at the price level jointly regulated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance for retail gasoline prices during the adjustment period from 3:00 p.m. on November 13. E5 RON 92 gasoline price increased by VND162/liter to VND19,844/liter; RON 95 gasoline increased by VND160/liter to VND20,576/liter.
Similarly, the price of 0.05S diesel increased by VND541/liter, to VND19,864/liter; kerosene increased by VND540/liter, to VND19,935/liter; the price of 180CST 3.5S fuel oil decreased by VND246/kg, to VND14,074/kg.
