Volatile fluctuations in the world crude oil spot market
Due to fluctuations, the average oil price in November compared to the previous month decreased from 1.8% to more than 2%. Compared to the same period last year, the crude oil price continued to decrease from 14% to more than 16%.
Brent crude futures fell to around $64.50 a barrel on Tuesday after four days of gains, amid persistent concerns about oversupply despite OPEC+’s decision to halt output increases early next year, Trading Economics said.
The producer group agreed to a small increase in output in December but will halt any further increases from January to March due to seasonal fluctuations in demand. The decision comes amid expectations that the oil market could face a surplus by 2026, with supply continuing to rise from both OPEC and non-OPEC producers.
However, some analysts warn that supply risks remain, citing tighter US sanctions on Russian oil majors Rosneft and Lukoil as well as Ukraine’s continued attacks on its energy infrastructure.
Ukraine’s latest drone attack set fire to an oil tanker and disabled some loading facilities at the Black Sea port of Tuapse, home to the Rosneft refinery.
