What is BVI FSC?
The British Virgin Islands (BVI) is well known for its stable political environment and legal framework based on English law. In 2001, with the enactment of the Financial Services Commission Act, the British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (BVI FSC) was officially established as the national financial regulator, responsible for protecting forex brokers and investors.
Functions and Scope of Supervision:
BVI FSC comprehensively oversees all financial activities in the BVI, including:
- Banking and insurance.
- Fund management and trust companies.
- Corporate management and company registration.
- Mutual funds and limited partnerships.
- Intellectual property.
In particular, all forex brokers operating in the BVI must obtain a valid license from the BVI FSC. The licensing process here is generally stricter than in many other offshore jurisdictions.
Regulations for Forex Brokers
- Client fund safety.
- Client assets must be fully segregated from company funds.
- Brokers must ensure client assets can be identified and protected at any time.
- Mandatory reporting requirements.
