Who is the JFX?

The Jakarta Futures Exchange (JFX) is the first futures exchange in Indonesia, established on August 19, 1999 under Law No. 32/1997 on Commodity Futures Trading. JFX was founded to support the business community, provide risk-hedging instruments, and serve as a platform for futures contract trading.

Through an electronic trading system driven by supply and demand, JFX enables members to conduct transparent and secure transactions. The exchange is committed to continuous innovation, product development, technology adoption, and expanding trading infrastructure to international standards.

How does JFX manage members?

 Under Indonesian law, JFX operates with two boards:

• Board of Commissioners
  
• Board of Directors
  

At least one director must represent the public, and all directors are required to work full-time as professionals. Both boards must pass a competency and fitness test conducted by the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (CoFTRA).

The Board of Directors manages day-to-day operations, overseeing six departments, with each director supervising three divisions.

JFX Membership Structure (4 Categories):

1. Traders (companies or individuals registered with CoFTRA): Corporate traders may only trade for their own accounts or their group, requiring at least one membership seat, individual traders may only trade for personal accounts and must own or lease at least one membership seat.
2. Brokers: licensed business entities officially approved by CoFTRA.
3. Applicants in the process of becoming a Trader or Broker.
4. Shareholders without licenses, not registered as Brokers or Traders under Law No. 32/1997.
